About Us

We are a small, independent, Colorado-based company that created a new trading card game called Round Table. The game is based on Arthurian legends and is not dissimilar from other CCGs like Magic: the Gathering or Yu-Gi-Oh. The game was released in March 2024 and is available for sale through our online store (click the button on the right-hand side) – or ask your local game store to join our Retailer Program and buy it through them!

Our staff has been playing CCGs and tabletop role-playing games for many years, including Dungeons and Dragons, Top Secret, and Pendragon. We thought we’d take a chance building an entirely new game based on the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table that blended the trading card game aspect we enjoyed about Magic: the Gathering with the names and places we loved from the Arthurian legends. We wanted to focus on making the game as balanced as possible, avoiding the “infinite combos” and “first-turn kills” that have plagued some games. We feel like we have some unique gameplay that keeps it interesting and engaging for everyone and keeps it from getting out of hand.

About Round Table

Round Table is a trading card game, meaning that the cards have varying rarities and abilities. There are 5 main types of cards:

Knights – your army to try to win the game
Quests and Redirects – send your opponent’s knights on quests or redirect them to another task
Equipment – equipment, like armor, shields, mounts, and weapons to help your knights
Titles – grant titles to your knights to improve their stats and grant them abilities
Demesnes –
your basic lands – Farm, Manor, Large Manor, Keep, and Castle
Regions – the goal of the game is to capture regions to be crowned Supreme Monarch of Britain

Where Can I Get It?

We released the game officially on March 9th, 2024! All you need to play is a Starter Deck. If you want to collect more cards to customize your deck, we also offer Treasure Packs with 18 more cards (3 Regions and 15 main cards). You can get those through our Online Store (click the button on the right). If you want your local game store to carry the game, have them reach out to Contact@NimueStudios.com so they can join our Retailer Program. We also have a ton of accessories available, including t-shirts and playmats!

We are always looking at events and locations for demonstrating the game. You can check out the Events Page above to see what our current plans are. If you are interested in a demo, we continue to do demonstrations around the Front Range of Colorado at various game and hobby stores. If you’d like us to do something in YOUR local store, please reach out to us at Contact@NimueStudios.com and we’ll do what we can!

What About the Designers?

Our main designer, Bill DeVoe, is a bit of a jack of all trades. He has published games and utilities for iPhone, has been a software developer for over 30 years, publishes a gaming YouTube channel (primarily about BattleTech), and runs a business helping teams and organizations achieve their best results. He’s also played role-playing games for over 40 years and was the Dungeon/Game Master for most of his time playing. And he’s learning to play guitar with his son in his copious free time. Each of these activities, though, is truly a labor of love. It’s also possible that he is easily distr – SQUIRREL!

Okay, Great – But Who or What is a Nimue?

Nimue is the name of one of the Ladies of the Lake. And if you’re thinking “[w]atery tarts lobbing swords at people is no system of government” – well-remembered! Depending on the legend, the Lady of the Lake is Nimue, Vivienne, Ninienne, etc. You get the idea – there are a lot of women who held the title of Lady of the Lake.

Nimue is the spelling from Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur, one of the more “definitive” texts out there about the Arthurian legends. He calls her the “chief” Lady of the Lake, which is why we selected her name for our game studio. She traps Merlin in a rock but it’s because he’s fallen in love with her and won’t leave her alone. She then becomes Arthur’s advisor, helping guide him and his court through perilous times.
