Submitting Art for Round Table TCG

Are you an artist looking at submitting art for Round Table TCG? We are working on expansions and would love to include art from a variety of artists in a variety of styles, so we are interested!

What Art Commissions Are Available?

While we normally would have a list of cards for review, we are still very early in the stages of developing this expansion. The first expansion we’re looking at is The Fae, or magic folks/fairies. But don’t think Tinkerbell and Pixie Hollow. Celtic myths on the Fae describe them as capricious, mischievous, and otherworldly. We are primarily considering that most fae look like anime characters. Not quite real and not quite human. There will also be a number of monsters, equipment, and titles to add to the mix, so we are looking at almost everything. If you find something in Celtic myth that you’d like to do a piece for, go for it!

While we absolutely love some of the art we’ve acquired for the game, we hope to highlight both local artists and artists getting their start in the industry. There’s a reason why we’re not just commissioning all of this work, but we hope you’ll like the model we have.

The Compensation Model

Bone-Snapper Primis Edition

As a very small, independent company working on a shoestring budget, we don’t have the deep pockets we wish we did. So we’re unable to pay everyone right up front for the right to license your art. But, we do have a model we think you’ll like.

For every piece of art we license from you, you are issued a share in our profit sharing at Nimue Innovation Studios. Each share can earn a percentage of the profit-sharing when we issue dividends. And we are hoping to do a lot of profit-sharing with the artists. Whenever we do a payout, artists will receive a percentage of that bucket of money based on the percentage of issued shares they own. If there were 100 shares issued and you had 5 of them, you’d receive 5% of the total profit-sharing amount. We promise to share at least 50% of the profits with artists when we do this.

We want to ensure that we recognize the people who took a chance on a small start-up. This is part of how we’re working hard to create a model where rising tides do lift all boats. We’re not in this to get rich, but to build a company that makes sense and helps more than just the founders.

The License

Gentle Reminder Primis Edition

The license we offer only allows us to use your art in the context of the overall card art. So all other rights for digital downloads, mouse pads, posters, shower curtains, bath mats – whatever you can think of – stay with you. So if a card is very popular, you can still benefit from owning the rights to the original artwork. We might print oversized versions of cards and such, but we will never use your art by itself – only with the rest of the card art.

We do need a signed license agreement before we will include your art in the game. We’ll be sure to send that to you for your review. We want you to be confident in our process and can talk you through every step. It may not be for every artist, but this model has been used before very successfully (ever heard of a small, niche game called Magic: the Gathering?).

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident selling the art on your own, we can work with you to sell it through our online store and give you all of the profits from the sale. We are willing to work with our artists to make sure you’re properly compensated. We appreciate your trust in us and for taking a chance on a new game from a new company.

The Process

Please review the cards we have that contain placeholder art. And when you have art for that card, please send us an email at Submissions@NimueStudios.com. Make sure to check back to see if the card is still available regularly. If we get a lot of artists submitting art, we may be taking cards out of circulation for this edition. We recognize this whole thing is not a normal art commission process, but we are small and independent.
